Neutral Spheres

Many time release formulations require layering the API on a neutral sphere; this is followed by a sustained release coating, which may include a pH-dependent sustained release profile when enteric polymers are used. It is important that the neutral spheres have narrow particle sizes and are stable in their spherical forms in order to achieve consistent drug dissolution profiles.

Solutions available:

Sugar/ Microcrystalline Cellulose – Exhibits excellent hardness and is suitable for drug layering and MUP formulations. Available in a wide range of particle sizes.

Calcium Carbonate available in a limited range of particle sizes

Citric Acid, Mannitol, Lactose, Tartaric acid and SiO2 are availble in a limited mesh range but this range can be expanded.
